Shagreens earliest uses date back to 13 th century Japan where skilled artisans found it to be a perfect material for samurai sword grips. During the Art Deco era shagreen wallpaper soared in popularity and was considered to be the pinnacle of luxury! Traditionally made from shark or ray skin, shagreen leather showcases a luxurious, granular surface. Our new emboss features a deeply textured finish, accentuated by a tip print technique creating metallic highlights that glisten in the light and create a subtle ombre effect. Shagreen is a celebration of classic handcrafted materiality, that brings a sense of heritage and luxury to modern interiors. The twelve colourways in this palette range from sophisticated neutrals of oyster, blush and slate to bold accents of oxblood, sapphire and teal all elevated with metallic highlights.
